Click the link above to sign up for The Clymb.  It's an online outdoor retailer that offers deep discounts on a variety of outdoor clothing, footwear, and gear.  It constantly rotates new products into its lineup and all sales last for 72 hours.

I work in the outdoor industry and many of the deals here are way better than those I have access to through my employer.

Why is "the clymb" website being repeatedly advertised on the GBCC site?  Could it be because existing "clymb" members receive financial compensation for every new member that they recruit?  Maybe .....ummmmmmm.

I remember not too long ago that a GBCC member was accused of personally profiting from GBCC organized outings/members.  At that time, this was going against GBCC policy, of not personally profiting from club members/trips. As far as a know this member was asked to stop, and complied. I fail to see how this is any different.

Keep your shirt on.  I'm not trying to make money.  I just wanted to share something I've benefitted from with like minded people.  If you don't want to sign up, you don't have to.

Awesome...since you are not trying to financially profit from membership recruitment, does that mean for every GBCC member that signs up, you'll donate $10 to the club? Thanks man you are the best!!! Thank you for being soooo considerate of your local Canoe/Kayak club. Keep those donations coming in.....they are going towards a good cause  Grin

This thread caught my eye. I certainly don't need any more gear but human interaction is interesting. So for all you of semi-curious but less curious than I, a quick google search got me here, http://www.theclymb.com/faqs the FAQ from Clymb. This excerpt from the site is probably most relevant to this discussion below.

What is an account credit?
When you invite friends, you get a $20.00 account credit when their first order ships!

Wow...just a thought...if all 1307 (wow, if that's correct??) club members signed up and ordered something we could buy communal gear for the club with all that account credit money. That's a ton of gear  Grin  Maybe the club should start a sign-up page of it's own.

That's actually not a bad idea! What do you think, Eric?

I guess if you were a member of the club it would be a little different...
Normally it is $10 for the referal, some of the stuff is a good deal, but you need to buy a lot to make the shipping cost worth it.
