Want to buy tandom canoe. Spouse advised she would paddle a canoe,
she just don't feel comfortable in a kayak.
So I keep trying  Grin

Outfitters will be having end of season sell off of rental stock soon.  I think one or two may already be selling. 
Advice - get a lesson in tandem canoe.  That will stop a lot of problems before they start.  Front is power, back is steering.  You can't steer from the back by yelling at the front; you need skills.  That's the root of many issues.
