A friend of mine was hiking the gorge today and 2 guys in their mid-20 choped down a tree and create a new strainer at the entrance.  They also started a fire before they left so FD was up there to put that out.

So I have a feeling I know exactly what tree they cut down and if that is the case, that strainer will be there for a LONG time.

Needless to say, I have a few choice words!!!

Chris sent me some more details on the description.  See if it matches

about little less than a 1/2 mile down Muddy Creek from the Paper Mill Road bridge. It is just around a bend in the river so Kayakers will not see it until they are almost on it.  The tree goes almost all the way across the river and is laying with the trunk just under the water with the branches sticking up out of the water. It was about a 60 foot pine tree.

Nope... I was thinking when you said Gorge it was the one that is hovering across the entrance of the Gorge area.

This one could probably be cleaned out when the water level drops.  Being before the gorge you have the hiking trails which means being able to bring in chain saw etc.  Guess we should ask the park service first
