River Info - Middle Gunpowder

Master Gauge for Middle Gunpower, does not account for time it takes for water to get to the outflow of Loch Raven Res.

Rating: I (II)

Description Caution:  Be aware of strainers at the Rt 1 bridge and in the tubes under the bridge, look ahead and exit the river well before the bridge if you see something.  This has been the cause of fatalities on this river.

A favorite among Baltimore area paddlers. This section is a good intro into moving water with one class II rapid.

Flow Info: Can be run with less water than the Lower Gunpowder.   200 cfs minimum.

Cresting at Loch Raven = Water Level at the Bridge (2014/2015 observations)

12" = 9" (all tubes under rte 1 clear.  above freezing with snowmelt)
